Total cross sections for {ital K}{sup +} scattering on light nuclei

In the calculation of the {ital K}{sup +} nucleus total cross sections, the coupling of the mesons exchanged between the {ital K}{sup +} and the target nucleons to the polarization of the Fermi and Dirac seas has been taken into account in the random-phase approximation. The agreement with experiment is improved for nuclei ranging from {sup 12}C to {sup 40}Ca but not for a light dilute nucleus like {sup 6}Li. The dependence of the cross sections on the target nucleon number is analyzed. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
