Absolute high-resolution photoabsorption cross-section of Argon Window features at 425{angstrom}

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the American Physical Society
OSTI ID:281658

The absolute photoabsorption cross section of the 3s 3p{sup 6} np absorption windows of argon is measured, with a resolution of 9m{angstrom}. Then n = 10 member is perturbed by a 3s{sup 2} 3p{sup 4} 4s 4p doubly-excited interloper. This interaction is fully resolved. Direct absorption measurements with the Very High Resolution Spectrometer at the SURF-II synchrotron radiation source at NIST were corrected for scattered and higher-order light to obtain the cross-sections.
