The Electron Beam Ion Trap (EBIT) at LLNL has been used to study relativistic and QED effects in very highly charged ions. Experiments to observe these effects include high-accuracy wavelength measurements, electron-ion interaction cross-section measurements, and observations of two-photon decays. Examples of such results will be presented, along with their implications for QED theory in very highly ionized systems.
