We have measured absolute differential excitation cross sections for the n=2 state of atomic hydrogen by electron impact. The energy range was from 15 to 40 eV, and the angular range was from 12 to 156{degrees}. The present results at 15 eV impact agree with the measurements of Williams in the forward direction, but there is disagreement in the backward scattering. The present results at 20 eV agree with those of Williams within experimental uncertainty. The present results are also compared with several theoretical calculations, where it is found that agreement is usually satisfactory above 30 eV but unsatisfactory below 30 eV.
