Single ionization cross sections have been studied in the collision between a positron (electron) and a Helium atom using coupled channel method. The Hartree-Fock Hamiltonian of the Helium atom has been diagonalized on a finite Hilbert basis. 9s, 9 p and 9 d pseudo-states have been included in the calculation. The excitation matrix elements are evaluated analytically. A U-matrix method with a parabolic curve fitting technique has been used to solve the coupled channel equations. The calculation with different positron paths shows that a hyperbolic classical trajectory gives better theoretical results than a straight-line calculation when the positron energies are low. Our theoretical ionization cross sections are in good agreement with the experimental data in the energy range from 50 to 1000 eV.
