QCD sum rule analysis of the decays {ital B}{r_arrow}{ital K}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}} and {ital B}{r_arrow}{ital K}{sup {asterisk}}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}}

We use QCD sum rules to calculate the hadronic matrix elements governing the rare decays {ital B}{r_arrow}{ital K}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}} and {ital B}{r_arrow}{ital K}{sup {asterisk}}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}} induced by the flavor-changing neutral current {ital b}{r_arrow}{ital s} transition. We also study relations among semileptonic and rare {ital B}{r_arrow}{ital K}{sup ({asterisk})} decay form factors. The analysis of the invariant mass distribution of the lepton pair in {ital B}{r_arrow}{ital K}{sup ({asterisk})}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}} and of the angular asymmetry in {ital B}{r_arrow}{ital K}{sup {asterisk}}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}} provides us with interesting tests of the standard model and its extensions. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
