The effects of cathodic protection (CP) on fatigue crack growth rate in BS 4360 50D steel were studied. The experiments were run in 3% NaCl solution and ASTM sea water to determine the effect of calcareous deposit on the crack faces. In ASTM sea water deposits were formed when CP was applied, in the NaCl solution no deposition took place. Two load ratios, 0.1 and 0.7, were investigated.
