The one-loop coefficients of L{umlt u}scher{close_quote}s effective Hamiltonian are computed for an SU(2) Yang-Mills theory where the gauge-invariant regularization was chosen according to Palumbo{close_quote}s noncompact lattice formulation. A comparison with the standard results yields an estimate of the errors arising in Palumbo{close_quote}s framework due to the introduction of unphysical auxiliary fields. In the continuum limit, which is possible and sensible in L{umlt u}scher{close_quote}s theory for small volumes, we recover L{umlt u}scher{close_quote}s original result if Palumbo{close_quote}s renormalization of the coupling to the auxiliary field is assumed. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
