Twenty-six failed nonbarrier BWR rods were examined in the hot cells. The purposes are to identify the failure root cause and to study the post-defect behaviors. This paper has summarized the quantification data of post-defect fuel behavior (e.g. hydrogen uptake and oxidation of fuel cladding and microstructural evolution of fuel pellet etc.) of the studied failed rods. It is aimed to document more pre-storage characterization data of defect spent fuel as the references for the ongoing interim storage program.
