{gamma}-titanium aluminide alloys are now considered as excellent candidates for aerospace applications. They combine a high melting temperature, low density, high modulus and a good oxidation and creep resistance. However, they suffer from a rather low ductility and toughness at room temperature which limit their applications. Recent researches have focused on understanding and controlling this lack of ductility at room temperature while maintaining the attractive elevated temperature characteristics. The ductility of {gamma} alloys is strongly dependent on the alloy composition and microstructure. In this paper, the authors will focus on the behavior of oxygen in the presence of another metallic element (such as Cr, Nb or Mn) in {gamma}-single phase ternary alloys. They will discuss the results and their interpretation compared to recently published observations.
