The flow stress-grain size relationship of a number of metals and alloys can be expressed by a modified Hall-Petch equation. The authors have recently established the Hall-Petch relationship for several Cu-Ti alloys (containing 1.5, 2.7, 4.5 and 5.4 wt% Ti), in the solution treated condition. The present investigation has been taken up to study the flow stress-grain size relationship in the peak aged Cu-1.5wt%Ti alloy and to confirm the earlier observation that precipitation rather than composition variation, is the cause for {sigma}{sub {omicron}{var_epsilon}} and hence {sigma}{sub {var_epsilon}}, the flow stress to vary with strain, i.e. {var_epsilon}{sup 3/2}.
