A new approach to the bending problem of rectangular plates with uniform and triangular prism form load under mixed boundary conditions was established. A Levy type approach is employed in the analysis of elastic, isotropic rectangular plates simply supported along two opposite edges and with mixed boundary supports along the other edges (a portion of the boundary is simply supported and the part is clamped). The formulation is restricted to symmetric plates. Two numerical schemes are used to obtain solutions to the example problems. Results obtained by the iterative method are compared with those from other papers for validity confirmation. Results obtained by the iterative method are also compared with those obtained by the simultaneous equations method.
