In this paper, the maceral combinations in pulverized coal particles, the correlation between volatile content and macerals, the char morphology and surface characters, and the effects of maceral on pulverized coal combustion have been studied. The maceral concentrates obtained by hand-picking and their parent coals were used. The purposes are: (1) to study the distribution of macerals in coal particles; and (2) to study effects of macerals and submacerals classified by cell cave on the combustion.
