A general review of the existing theories on the ultimate uplift capacity of plate anchors embedded in sand is presented. The theories were compared with some published laboratory model test results. Based on some of the laboratory model test results, a nondimensional relationship for single anchors and the behavior of single circular anchors under cyclic load are discussed. The theoretical relationship and laboratory results on the efficiency of group anchors under uplift have also been elaborated upon.
