Neutron resonances in {sup 165}Ho and the five fold correlation test of time reversal

We report the results of a new high resolution study of neutron resonances below 500 eV in {sup 165}Ho carried out at the ORELA neutron time of flight facility. We find new resonances which are canidates for five-fold correlation time reversal violation studies. We show how the deformation effect can be used to identify small d-wave admixtures in predominately s-wave resonances, opening up the possibility for a sensitive parity-conserving time reversal test. We estimate both the deformation effect and time reversal violating cross sections using average d-wave strengths estimated from penetrabilities.
