We study the importance of {alpha}-clustering in nuclear abrasion in heavy ion fragmentation. Recently we reformulated the Glauber model of heavy-ion fragmentation to treat cluster abrasion of {alpha}-clusters form the projectile nuclei. The ground-state rotational bands J = 0, 2, and 4 of the projectile nuclei and corresponding population in the residual nuclei are considered. We study the relative importance of {alpha}-cluster and nucleon knockouts in the fragmentation production cross sections has been performed for {sup 12}C, {sup 16}O, and {sup 20}Ne projectiles at several GeV and results will be discussed.
