The {sup 1}H({rvec d},v){sup 3}He reaction at 80-0 keV

The reaction {sup 1}H ({rvec d}, {gamma}){sup 3}He has been studied using polarized deuterons with a lab energy of 80-0 keV. The deuteron beam was stopped in an ice target and the gamma rays were detected using HPGe detectors. Angular distributions of cross section and tensor analyzing power T{sub 20} have been measured. Results of a simultaneous T-matrix element analysis of these data together with cross section and vector analyzing power data from the reaction {sup 2}H (p, {gamma}){sup 3}He with E{sup p} = 40 - 0 keV will be presented. Preliminary results indicate that both El transitions to the {open_quotes}S{close_quotes} and {open_quotes}D{close_quotes} state of {sup 3}He, as well as Ml transitions, must be included in order to fit the data. The measurements will be compared with recent variational calculations. A determination of the asymptotic D/ S ratio will be discussed.
