Experiments with (gaseous) internal targets have unique features. Target species can be highly polarized without dilution. The use of extremely thin windows allows the detection of low-energy recoil nuclei. A high-intensity (in excess of 100 mA) beam of electrons can be stored in the AmPS stretcher/storage ring. The experimental program at the NIKHEF Internal Target Facility is focused on few-body systems. In a first experiment at a luminosity of 10{sup 31} cm{sup -2}s{sup -1} target asymmetries were measured with unprecedented accuracy for the elastic and the break-up channel of tensor-polarized deuterium. An improvement program for the luminosity will allow to extend these measurements up to a momentum transfer of more than 4 fm{sup -1}. The detection of low-energy recoils from {sup 4}He will be used in studies of coherent {pi}{sup o} production, quasi-free {pi}/{Delta} production and the isospin dependence of the three-body break-up process. The availability of a longitudinally polarized beam with a high degree of polarization (>70 %) will be used in combination with polarized targets of {sup 3}He and {sup 2}H to measure the neutron electric form factor and various aspects of the internal structure of {sup 3}He and {sup 2}H.
