Hewlett-Packard`s Laserjet Product Group (LPG), a printer contributor to the Computer Products Organization, has helped launch a stewardship program with the objectives of providing products and services that are environmentally sound throughout their life cycle, and conducting its operations worldwide in an environmentally responsible manner. LPG`s product mix includes personal, workgroup, and network Laserjet printers; network software; and network educational programs. Its business is characterized by rapid technology changes, short development life cycles, and highly competitive global markets. Energy use is an important business fundamental portion of environmental stewardship for HP, and many ideas and challenges have surfaced when applying energy efficiency to printers. HP would like to share ideas and approaches with those working in the energy efficiency realm.
