Precise determination of the weak mixing angle from a measurement of {ital A}{sub {ital LR}} in ({ital e}{sup +}{ital e}{sup -}{implies}{ital Z}{sup 0})

In the 1993 SLC/SLD run, the SLD recorded 50,000 {ital Z} events produced by the collision of longitudinally polarized electrons on unpolarized positrons at a center-of-mass energy of 91.26 GeV. The luminosity-weighted average polarization of the SLC electron beam was (63.0{plus_minus}1.1){percent}. We measure the left-right cross-section asymmetry in {ital Z} boson production, {ital A}{sub {ital LR}}, to be 0.1628{plus_minus}0.0071(stat.){plus_minus}0.0028(syst.) which determines the effective weak mixing angle to be sin{sup 2}{theta}{sub {ital W}}{sup eff}=0.2292{plus_minus}0.0009(stat.){plus_minus}0.0004(syst.). {copyright} {ital 1995 American Institute of Physics.}
