The brochure is a summary of trends in the nation`s air quality for the last 10 years. It highlights the United States Environmental Protection Agency`s (EPA`s) most recent analysis of trends in air pollution emissions and air quality concentrations. In addition to a summary of the trends for the six `criteria` pollutants: carbon monoxide (CO), lead (Pb), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), particulate matter (PM-10), a sulfur dioxide (SO2), the brochure also provides an overview of trends in toxic air pollution, sources of toxic air emissions, and the process EPA has developed for controlling toxic air pollution.
