Work from these laboratories on palladium catalysis in alkynylation, alkenylation, alkylation, arylation and acylation reactions in 1,3-azines will be briefly reviewed. Tin, zinc, zirconium and aluminum organometallics are involved in the coupling reactions. In most cases the organometallic reagents are available by transmetallations, but are also prepared otherwise. Metallations of azines are included. Examples of regioselective as well as chemoselective stepwise carbosubstitutions will be presented.
