Policies and actions related to Revision B of the European utility requirement document (EUR)

A group of the major European utilities is developing a common requirement document (EUR document) for the LWR nuclear power plants to be built in Europe from the turn of the next century onwards. The EUR document provides harmonized policies and technical requirements that would allow standard designs developed in one country to be implemented into another one. From the first stage (Revision A) released in March 94, the scope of the document has been extended to cover most of LWR plant designs. Also, the initial text has been revised and augmented where relevant comments have been gathered from both external and internal review processes. Revision B which includes all this evolution has been released in December 95. The main policies developed in Revision B are summarized in the paper. Also a perspective is given for next EUR actions.
