This article addresses the mitigation of corrosion in underground power houses. This is a persistent problem on pipes, valves, and mechanical equipment in underground hydroelectric powerhouses. Engineers with a Norwegian utility have installed absorption humidifiers in some of their facilites. This equipment has maintained relative humidity and has virtually eliminated corrosion on exposed metal surfaces in the plants.
