Integrated Biomass Supply Analysis and Logistics Model (IBSAL) 2.0

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/2448184· OSTI ID:2448184
The Integrated Biomass Supply Analysis and Logistics (IBSAL) 2.0 models a feedstock supply shed's harvest and transport process to estimate the cost of delivered feedstock. The model sets up a supply shed of fields, harvests the fields using a series of sequential harvest operations with different crew types, and transports the harvested feedstock to a storage facility or refinery. The model reports many metrics; the most important ones include the crew resources required for harvest and transport operations, equipment utilization, fuel usage, amount of dry mass harvested, the cost for each operation, and the expected time to complete the harvest with the provided resources. IBSAL 2.0 is a complete redesign around the ExtendSim database, and it is faster and easier to reapply the model to different feedstocks.
