The possibility of synthesis of polymers based on Fe(II), Ru(II), and Os(II) complexes with 5-chloro-1,10-phenanthroline (5Cl-phen) was demonstrated previously. It was shown that these polymeric complexes are photochemically active and possess electronic redox-conductivity and electrochromic properties. These compounds can be prepared by scanning of the platinum electrode potential from -0.7 to 1.7 V (vs. SCE) in acetonitrile solutions of corresponding monomers or with potentiostatic electrode polarization at -1.6 V. Optimal conditions of preparation of polymeric films based on the above complexes, the kinetics of their formation, data on stability, and parameters of electronic conductivity were presented previously. Here, the authors report the results of studies of the photosensitivity of electrodes modified with each component separately.
