This book exhibits its best qualities as a readily accessible, desk-top source reference on conformal mapping applications for the practicing engineer and applied scientist who may beunfamiliar with the topic or uninformed about its utility in solving problems of contemporary interest. On the other hand, it is not an applied or operational mathematics textbook on conformal transformation methods. The authors have purposely avoided emphasizing the mathematical constructions, proofs, and foundations of the subject in this book. There are no formal derivations and no example problem exercises. Instead, the authors have provided a very accessible, yet remarkably extensive, set of examples to inform and to interest the reader in conformal mapping procedures and to illustrate their utility in the solution of contemporary problems.
