Elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections of 800 MeV/c K Mesons are calculated within the frame-work of partial wave expansions in the adiabatic approximation. In the formulation of the problem the authors have assumed that the interior of the nucleus is approximately black to the high energy K Mesons because of the strong interaction and high nuclear matter density. Consequently, the contributions to both elastic and inelastic scattering with the low lying collective states are assumed to be mostly due to K Mesons transmitted through the region of the nuclear surface. It is therefore mainly the geometrical structure of the target nucleus that determines the scattering cross sections in this approximation. The details of the theoretical formulation and the comparison of the calculated angular distributions for the scattering cross sections with those of the experimental data will be presented.
