Pion-proton integral cross sections from 40 to 500 MeV

Pion-proton integral cross sections have been measured in a transmission experiment at LAMPF for more than thirty incident pion energies from 40 to 500 MeV. The measurements were made for scattering outside of either a 30{degrees} or a 20{degrees} forward angle in the laboratory system. Cross sections are presented for both {pi}{sup +} and {pi}{sup {minus}} scattering. Early results for the {pi}{sup +}p integral cross sections are consistently below the predictions of both the KH80 and SM90 phase shift solutions.
