Search for the top quark in muon-electron plus jets in D0

At the fermilab p{bar p} Collider with {radical}s = 1.8 TeV, if m{sub top} is greater than m{sub W} + M{sub b}, the standard model predicts that pair production is the dominant top quark production mechanism. With the standard decay mode of t {r_arrow} W + b, a clean decay signature for the pair exists with W {r_arrow} e{nu}, W {r_arrow} {mu}{nu}, plus b-jets. Here the authors present preliminary results of the top quark search using high P{sub T} muon-electron plus jets events from the D0 detector.
