Magnetic properties of the binuclear vanadium(III) {mu}-oxo complexes that have shortened V-O bonds are theoretically analyzed in terms of the MO LCAO method with due regard for configuration interaction. It is established that these complexes exhibit a wide variety of magnetic properties from strong ferromagnetism to strong antiferromagnetism, depending on the geometry of the [V{sub 2}({mu}-O)L{sub 10}] fragment. The factors favorable for one type or another of magnetic behavior are revealed. Theoretical results are shown to agree well with the known experimental data.
