Significant subscale hardening was observed in Ti-25Al and Ti-24Al-15Nb after exposure in O{sub 2}, N{sub 2} and 20O{sub 2}-80N{sub 2} at 1,300 K. The diffusivities of nitrogen and oxygen were determined from the microhardness profiles. The diffusivities of nitrogen in Ti-25Al and Ti-24Al-15Nb are comparable to that reported for {alpha}-Ti. No data could be located in literature on these or similar alloys. Diffusivity of oxygen in Ti-24Al-15Nb determined in the present study is close to that reported for Ti-25Al-11Nb.
