Highly dispersed palladium particles were electrodeposited from PdCl{sub 2} + H{sub 2}SO{sub 4} and PdCl{sub 2} + HCl solutions in a Nafion film applied on vitreous carbon. Possible factors responsible for the Nafion film permeability to [PdCl{sub 4}]{sup 2-} anions and impermeability to [Fe(CN){sub 6}]{sup 3-} anions are discussed. A substantial effect of deposition conditions on the electrocatalytic properties of palladium catalysts was discovered. The role of the polymeric matrix in the formation of palladium particles and their behavior in the processes of hydrogen sorption and formic acid electrooxidation is discussed.
