A novel fiber optic Raman probe for detection and identification of VOC vapors above an aqueous solution of VOC`s is described. The probe utilizes an absorbent resin, C-18, to concentrate the organic vapors in the optical path of the Raman probe. By using an adsorbent material coupled to fiber optic Raman spectroscopy, the probe is highly selective, sensitive and exhibits a fully reversible response. The probe exhibits a fully reversible response to organic vapors such as carbon tetrachloride or benzene.
