The advancement of microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip designs has provided a pathway of experimentation that utilizes volumes which are orders of magnitude less than previous techniques. For radioactive applications the benefits of lower dose to workers and equipment, smaller feedstock volumes, and less waste make these techniques of significant interest. With these benefits come the complication of solution analysis, as conventional spectroscopic techniques require much larger volumes. Therefore to meet this need a Micro Raman has been developed with a focal point capable of solution analysis inside a channel on a microfluidic chip. The system has been applied and validated with solutions relevant to nuclear fuel applications. (authors)
