Tailoring Magnetocaloric Effect in La{sub 0.7}Sr{sub 0.3}MnO{sub 3}–TiO{sub 2}

Based on phenomenological model, the effect of TiO{sub 2} addition on magnetocaloric effect (MCE) for La{sub 0.7}Sr{sub 0.3}MnO{sub 3} (LSMO) has been investigated. It is found that at low TiO{sub 2} doping decreases slightly magnetocaloric properties. Moreover, LSMO-TiO{sub 2} can be tailored to near ambient temperature, which is favorable for magnetic refrigeration that occurs in different temperature ranges. Moreover, MCE of LSMO/TiO{sub 2} composites spanning over a broad range of temperature leads to a remarkably wide-working temperature region, which is beneficial for practical applications. These results make the La{sub 0.7}Sr{sub 0.3}MnO{sub 3}–TiO{sub 2} samples potential candidates for practical applications.
