Introduction of liquid nuclear fuel may open a way to develop new ideas for fuel engineers. The first action is a small step to develop bottle-shaped devices which encapsulate liquid fuels and enable safe irradiation in Halden Heavy Water Boiling Reactor (HBWR). Thermo-hydrodynamics 3D code calculations were made to evaluate heat removal performance of the device by natural convection. Preparation of mock-up testing and consideration of safety issues to use liquid fuel in water reactor are presented. (authors)
