(2E)-3-(anthrance-9-yl)-1-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)prop-2-en-1-one [C{sub 23}H{sub 14}OC{sub l2}] is synthesized and its crystal structure is determined by single X-ray diffraction. There exist two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angle between the benzene and anthracene moiety of the molecule A and B is 86.51(12)° and 76.42(13)°, respectively. No classical hydrogen bonds are observed and only van der Waals forces stabilize the crystal packing.
