The author develops the problem of whistler generation in an infinite magnetoplasma having an ac electric field perpendicular to the field lines, and a plasma distribution function including loss cone particles and temperature anisotropies. Such plasma have been observed in the magnetosphere. The authors consider the effect of electron injection into this plasma on the whister generation, as could result from solar wind interaction with the magnetosphere. They find that the frequency of the ac electric field has a large effect on the instability growth rate, and that the injection of hot electrons can also stimulate the growth rate.
