Highlights: • CD95 triggers death as well as non-death activities - e.g. proliferation, invasion and inflammation. • The CD95-Fc fusion protein, APG101, can serve as a tool to manipulate CD95-mediated non-death and death events. • The manipulation of the new immunological Annexin checkpoint system has an impact on peripheral tolerance towards apoptotic cells.
