Use of advanced analytical planning tools in the Toronto Integrated Electrical Service Study

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:226960

Ontario Hydro has adopted the local integrated resource planning (LIRP) approach as the methodology of choice for planning supply to a service area. Experience with a dozen or so LIRP studies so far in the last three years has demonstrated and confirmed the appropriateness of this planning approach under the current low load growth and cost conscious planning environment in Ontario Hydro. This report will summarize the experience of the Toronto Integrated Electrical Service (TIES) Study, the most complex and comprehensive of the LIRP studies carried out so far by Ontario Hydro. In particular, the tools, approaches and methods developed and used in this study will be highlighted.
