A {gamma} TiAl material (Ti-45.5Al-2Nb-2Cr) was hot rolled to produce thin sheets. Samples of the sheet were tension tested at strain rates of 10{sup {minus}3} to 10{sup {minus}2} sec{sup {minus}1} and temperatures between 900 C and 1,200 C to establish superplastic behavior and microstructural changes. Results showed the occurrence of grain refinement (900--1,000 C), grain size stability (1,100 C), or grain growth (1,200 C). Cavitation was found in all conditions tested. Optimum superplastic forming conditions found in this study were at 1,200 C and an initial strain rate of 10{sup {minus}3} sec{sup {minus}1}. Under these conditions, the maximum elongation (980%) and minimum cavitation were achieved.
