The DarkNESS mission is to send a 6U CubeSat fitted with an array of skipper-CCDs to see how well these sensors operate in Low Earth Orbit: take measurements of x-rays from the galactic center and strongly interacting sub-GeV dark matter from Cygnus X-1. Skipper-CCDs allow for low-noise astronomical observations which can extend the discovery reach for direct dark matter search experiments. This paper will discuss the characterization of the space Multi-Chip Module (sMCM) equipped with skipper-CCDs, and the challenges it faces during testing in the lab environment.
