On the influence of a Rashbatype coupling induced by Lorentzviolating effects on a Landau system for a neutral particle
Abstract
We study a possible scenario of the Lorentz symmetry violation background that allows us to build an analogue of the Landau system for a nonrelativistic Dirac neutral particle interacting with a field configuration of crossed electric and magnetic fields. We also discuss the arising of analogues of the Rashba coupling, the Zeeman term and the Darwin term from the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects, and the influence of these terms on the analogue of the Landau system confined to a twodimensional quantum ring. Finally, we show that this analogy with the Landau system confined to a twodimensional quantum ring allows us to establish an upper bound for the Lorentz symmetry breaking parameters. Highlights: • Landau system from crossed electric and magnetic fields and fixed timelike vector. • Analogues of the Rashba coupling, the Zeeman term and the Darwin term. • Lorentz symmetry breaking effects on a twodimensional quantum ring. • Upper bound for the Lorentz symmetry breaking parameters.

The influence of a Lorentzviolating fixed background on fermions is considered by means of a torsionfree nonminimal coupling. The nonrelativistic regime is assessed and the Lorentzviolating Hamiltonian is determined. The effect of this Hamiltonian on the hydrogen spectrum is determined to firstorder evaluation (in the absence and in the presence of an external magnetic field), revealing that there appear some energy shifts that modify the fine structure of the spectrum. In the case the nonminimal coupling is torsionlike, no first order correction shows up in the absence of an external field; in the presence of an external field, a secondarymore »

Influence of Lorentzviolating terms on a twolevel system
The influence of Lorentz and CPTviolating terms of the extended standard model on a semiclassical twolevel system is analyzed. It is shown that the Lorentzviolating background (when coupled with the fermion sector in a vector way) is able to induce modifications on the Rabi oscillation pattern, promoting sensitive modulations on the usual oscillations. As for the term involving the coefficient coupled in an axial vector way, it brings about oscillations both on energy states and on the spin states (implied by the background). It is also seen that such backgrounds are able to yield state oscillations even in the absencemore »
Relativistic Landau–He–McKellar–Wilkens quantization and relativistic bound states solutions for a Coulomblike potential induced by the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects
In this work, we discuss the relativistic Landau–He–McKellar–Wilkens quantization and relativistic bound states solutions for a Dirac neutral particle under the influence of a Coulomblike potential induced by the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. We present new possible scenarios of studying Lorentz symmetry breaking effects by fixing the spacelike vector field background in special configurations. It is worth mentioning that the criterion for studying the violation of Lorentz symmetry is preserving the gauge symmetry. Highlights: •Two new possible scenarios of studying Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. •Coulomblike potential induced by the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. •Relativistic Landau–He–McKellar–Wilkens quantization. •Exact solutions ofmore »
On the harmonictype and lineartype confinement of a relativistic scalar particle yielded by Lorentz symmetry breaking effects
Based on the Standard Model Extension, we investigate relativistic quantum effects on a scalar particle in backgrounds of the Lorentz symmetry violation defined by a tensor field. We show that harmonictype and lineartype confining potentials can stem from Lorentz symmetry breaking effects, and thus, relativistic bound state solutions can be achieved. We first analyse a possible scenario of the violation of the Lorentz symmetry that gives rise to a harmonictype potential. In the following, we analyse another possible scenario of the breaking of the Lorentz symmetry that induces both harmonictype and lineartype confining potentials. In this second case, we alsomore »
Realistic Rashba and Dresselhaus spinorbit coupling for neutral atoms
We describe a new class of atomlaser coupling schemes which lead to spinorbitcoupled Hamiltonians for ultracold neutral atoms. By properly setting the optical phases, a pair of degenerate pseudospin (a linear combination of internal atomic) states emerge as the lowestenergy eigenstates in the spectrum and are thus immune to collisionally induced decay. These schemes use N cyclically coupled ground or metastable internal states. We focus on two situations: a threelevel case and a fourlevel case, where the latter adds a controllable Dresselhaus contribution. We describe an implementation of the fourlevel scheme for {sup 87}Rb and analyze its sensitivity to typicalmore »
