Title: Crystal structure and dielectric properties of xCa(Mg{sub 1/3}Nb{sub 2/3})O{sub 3}–(1 − x)(Ca{sub 0.61}Nd{sub 0.26})TiO{sub 3} at the microwave frequency

Highlights: • The 0.6Ca(Mg{sub 1/3}Nb{sub 2/3})O{sub 3}–0.4Ca{sub 0.61}Nd{sub 0.26}TiO{sub 3} system is thus proposed for use in microwave devices. • The XRD patterns indicate that the xCMN–(1 − x)CNT ceramic system had a complex perovskite structure. • The τ{sub f} value could be adjusted to near zero. - Abstract: The microwave dielectric properties of the xCa(Mg{sub 1/3}Nb{sub 2/3})O{sub 3}–(1 − x)Ca{sub 0.61}Nd{sub 0.26}TiO{sub 3} ceramic system (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8) were investigated. The crystal structures and the microstructures of the ceramics were characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analyses, respectively. A near-zero temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was achieved by adjusting the x value of the system. When the x value was increased from 0.2 to 0.8, the dielectric constant ϵ{sub r} decreased from 83 to 34, the quality factor value (Q × f) increased from 13,000 to 45,000 GHz, and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (τ{sub r}) decreased from 85 to −21 ppm/°C. The 0.6Ca(Mg{sub 1/3}Nb{sub 2/3})O{sub 3}–0.4Ca{sub 0.61}Nd{sub 0.26}TiO{sub 3} ceramic system is suitable for microwave dielectric resonator applications, as it has an ϵ{sub r} value of ∼47, a Q × f value of ∼37,000 GHz, and a τ{sub r} value of ∼5 ppm/°C.
