Interactions of nonlinear electronacoustic solitary waves with vortex electron distribution
Abstract
In the present work, based on a one dimensional model, we consider the headoncollision of nonlinear electronacoustic waves in a plasma composed of a cold electron fluid, hot electrons obeying a trapped/vortexlike distribution, and stationary ions. The analysis is based on the use of extended Poincare, LighthillKuo method [C. H. Su and R. M. Mirie, J. Fluid Mech. 98, 509 (1980); R. M. Mirie and C. H. Su, J. Fluid Mech. 115, 475 (1982)]. It is shown that, for the first order approximation, the waves propagating in opposite directions are characterized by modified Kortewegde Vries equations. In contrary to the results of previous investigations on this subject, we showed that the phase shifts are functions of both amplitudes of the colliding waves. The numerical results indicate that the waves with larger amplitude experience smaller phase shifts. Such a result seems to be plausible from physical considerations.

The nonlinear wave structure of smallamplitude electronacoustic solitary waves (EASWs) is investigated in a fourcomponent plasma consisting of cold electron fluid, hot electrons obeying vortexlike distribution traversed by a warm electron beam and stationary ions. The streaming velocity of the beam, u{sub o}, plays the dominant role in determining the roots of the linear dispersion relation associated with the system. Using the reductive perturbation theory, the basic set of equations is reduced to a modified Kortewegde Vries (mKdV) equation. With the inclusion of higherorder nonlinearity, a linear inhomogeneous mKdV type equation with fifthorder dispersion term is derived and the higherordermore »

A note on the cylindrical solitary waves in an electronacoustic plasma with vortex electron distribution
In the present work, we consider the propagation of nonlinear electronacoustic nonplanar waves in a plasma composed of a cold electron fluid, hot electrons obeying a trapped/vortexlike distribution, and stationary ions. The basic nonlinear equations of the above described plasma are reexamined in the cylindrical coordinates through the use reductive perturbation method in the longwave approximation. The modified cylindrical Kortewegde Vries equation with fractional power nonlinearity is obtained as the evolution equation. Due to the nature of nonlinearity, which is fractional, this evolution equation cannot be reduced to the conventional Korteweg–de Vries equation. An analytical solution to the evolution equation, more »
Dustionacoustic solitary waves in dusty plasma with arbitrarily charged dust and vortexlike electron distribution
The nonlinear propagation of dustionacoustic (DIA) waves in a dusty plasma containing trapped electrons following vortexlike distribution, cold mobile ions, and arbitrarily charged static dust is theoretically investigated. The properties of small but finite amplitude DIA solitary waves (SWs) are studied by employing the reductive perturbation technique. It is found that owing to the departure from the Maxwellian electron distribution to a vortexlike one, the dynamics of such DIA SWs is governed by a modified Kortewegde Vries equation. The basic features (amplitude, width, speed, etc.) of such DIA SWs, which are found to be significantly modified by the vortexlike electronmore »
Nonlinear propagation of dustacoustic waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma with nonthermal electron and vortexlike ion distribution
The nonlinear propagation of dustacoustic (DA) waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of nonthermal electrons, vortexlike (trapped) distributed ions and mobile negative dust have been investigated by employing the reductive perturbation technique. The effects of nonthermal electrons and trapped ions are found to modify the properties of the DA solitary waves.
Multidimensional instability of electronacoustic solitary waves in a magnetized plasma with vortexlike electron distribution
The basic features of obliquely propagating electronacoustic (EA) solitary waves and their multidimensional instability in a magnetized plasma containing cold electrons, hot electrons obeying a vortexlike distribution, and stationary ions have been theoretically investigated by the reductive perturbation method and smallk perturbation expansion technique. The combined effects of external magnetic field (obliqueness) and trapped electron distribution, which are found to significantly modify the basic properties (amplitude and width) of small but finiteamplitude EA solitary waves, are explicitly examined. It is also found that the instability criterion and the growth rate are significantly modified by the external magnetic field and themore »
