Digital systems are being applied to instrumentation and control (I and C) systems, including safety and non-safety systems, to accommodate obsolescence of existing analog devices or to obtain the benefits of digital I and C systems in new nuclear power plants as well as existing plants. This paper presents the Mitsubishi experience of digital I and C application and modernization. (authors)
