Los Alamos National Laboratory is in Los Alamos New Mexico (Northern New Mexico). The lab has a long history (~80 years). Established in 1943 as Site Y for the Manhattan Project. The mission of the lab has changed since then and currently focuses on maintaining a strategic nuclear deterrent to protect the nation.
