Single crystals without Co and Ni have been crystallized by the substitution method in the K{sub 2}Ni(SO{sub 4}){sub 2}-Ce(SO{sub 4}){sub 2}-H{sub 2}SO{sub 4}-H{sub 2}O system using K{sub 2}Co(SO{sub 4}){sub 2} . 6H{sub 2}O, K{sub 2} (Co,Ni)(SO{sub 4}){sub 2} . 6H{sub 2}O, or K{sub 2}Ni(SO{sub 4}){sub 2} . 6H{sub 2}O as protocrystals. The structure of the single crystals obtained has been established by X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal structure contains dimer complex anions [Ce{sub 2}({mu}-SO{sub 4}){sub 2}(SO{sub 4}){sub 6}]{sup 8-}, K{sup +} cations, and crystallization water molecules.
