Aromatization of light alkanes over ZSM-5 zeolites has been of increasing interest since it may provide a new route for manufacturing aromatics. Using ZSM-5 zeolites as catalysts, much progress has been made for the transformation of light alkanes to aromatics during the last decade. It has been shown that gallium modified ZSM-5 catalysts have higher catalytic activity and can greatly enhance the selectivity to aromatics. However, the conversion levels decrease with time on stream due to the formation of coke, and thus prolonging the catalyst life, becomes one of the key factors for commercial application.
